Brain Stem
The brain stem is located at the lower extension of the brain where it connects to the spinal cord, in charge of the survival function (breathing, blood pressure, heart rate, digestion) and the arousal function (alertness and arousal), and consists of the midbrain, medulla, oblongata, and the pons. |
Cerebrum
The cerebrum determines intelligence, personality, the interpretation of sensory impulses, motor function, planning and organization, touch sensation, etc and consists of white matter (connects all parts of the brain to function as one) and front-to-back fissure (divides the cerebrum into two hemispheres). |
